First week of 2016 competition with just one FTWA entrant

First week of 2016 competition with just one FTWA entrant

What do all these FTWAs have in common? They are all Arch of Triumph winners in weeks when there was only one entrant. There have only ever been 13 of these types of winners in four years of competition.

Over the last four years, there have only been 13 occasions when just one entrant has been fielded by the world’s airports to take part in the weekly Arch of Triumph – out of the 134 weeks of competition since we introduced the contest in 2013. This week, with its single entry from Prague, while it is included in that tally of 13, is the first of 2016. Last year, there were two; in 2014 there were seven weeks when just one entrant was received by; while in the first year of competition there were three (from just 13 contesting weeks). On the whole, these single entry winning weeks have tended to be won by some lower-scoring FTWAs (as seen above). In 2013 the average of the three scores was 20.83; in 2014 it was a meagre 18.6; and in 2015 it climbed to 24.55. So with a score of 30.7, Prague Airport’s firefighters have done pretty well against those previous single entry week markers. Keep Monitoring!!

First week of 2016 competition with just one FTWA entrant

The grey overcast skies did not showcase this FTWA to its best…

Judge’s Comments: Quite often judges suffer from their equivalent of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression that occurs on a seasonal basis. Ours however occurs when an FTWA for a big route launch like this one above is greeted by ashen skies in the Czech Republic. Its summer!! Where are the blue skies?? This type of summer sky makes the four judges sad…and affects their scoring too…

Jonny: 7.3; Marc: 7.2; Paul: 8.5; Ralph: 7.7.
