Humberside Airport greeted the first day’s passengers on Thomson Airways’ Tenerife South service with a truly Spanish warm welcome, with flamenco dancers and sangria offered at check-in. The airline also began three more flights from three other UK airports this week.
- Thomson Airways has commenced four new routes recently, including a new service to Tenerife South (TFS) from Humberside (HUY) in the UK on 7 November. This service to the Canary Island sees a weekly flight (Mondays) during the winter season. Deborah Zost, Humberside’s MD, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer local holidaymakers a winter weekly service to Tenerife from Humberside Airport. By expanding its flying programme from Humberside, Thomson has clearly demonstrated its confidence in the airport, offering a greater choice of flights and holidays from our region.” Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson, said: “Adding more capacity from Humberside Airport with the introduction of new flights to Tenerife demonstrates our commitment to the airport and the surrounding area.” In terms of Thomson’s improved long-haul offer from the UK this week, the leisure airline becomes just the second operator to Colombo (CMB), alongside SriLankan Airlines, and the only carrier with a direct flight to Phuket (HKT).
