On 15 December Azul Airlines commenced flights to Punta del Este in Uruguay from Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo Viracopos, with both routes scheduled to operate twice-weekly. The airline on the day of the launch held a press briefing in the Uruguayan city. Flights from Porto Alegre will be flown on ATRs with Viracopos flights operated on the airline’s E195s. No other carrier currently operates these routes.
- Azul Airlines on 15 December commenced flights to Punta del Este (PDP) in Uruguay. The Atlantic Coast resort will be connected by the Brazilian LCC to Porto Alegre (POA) and Sao Paulo Viracopos (VCP). The 653-kilometre link to the former city will be flown twice-weekly (Thursdays and Sundays) on the airline’s 70-seat ATR 72-600s according to OAG schedules, while the latter route, which has a sector length of 1,526 kilometres, will also be flown twice-weekly on the same days of operation as the Porto Alegre sector, but on the airline’s 118-seat E195s. Flights to Viracopos will increase to four times weekly from 30 December, with a Friday and Sunday rotation being added. No other airline currently operates either of these sectors.
