Passengers checking in at Hanoi Airport on Sunday 15 January for Jetstar Pacific Airlines’ inaugural flight BL672 to Guangzhou. The carrier joins China Southern Airlines and Vietnam Airlines in linking the two cities.
- Jetstar Pacific Airlines has launched two new routes to China. On 15 January the LCC began daily flights on the 805-kilometre route between Hanoi (HAN) and Guangzhou (CAN). This route is already served by China Southern Airlines (with three daily flights) and Vietnam Airlines (with daily flights). The carrier also began five times weekly flights from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Guangzhou on the same day. This 1,563-kilometre route is again served by China Southern (with four daily flights) and Vietnam Airlines (with daily flights). Both routes will be operated by the carrier’s A320 fleet. On routes between Vietnam and China, Jetstar Pacific accounts for 7% of seat capacity, ranking it third in the country pair market behind Vietnam Airlines (38%) and China Southern (25%). Assorted Chinese carriers account for the remaining 30% of the market.
