Europe finally awakes and sends its first 2017 Arch of Triumph entry
It has finally happened. Here we are in week five of this year’s competition and this week was the first time we have received a FTWA from a European airport in 2017, with Marseille becoming the first airport to send us an entry. The anna.aero judge’s were getting seriously worried that the region had not woken up from its post-Christmas gloom. Unless of course Europe, which has won each of the four annual competitions that have taken place so far, is just letting the other regions get an early win under their respective belts…before in the words of Russell Crowe in the 2000 film Gladiator…they “unleash hell”…with another year of Arch of Triumph bombardment. Keep Monitoring!!

Himalaya Airlines Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur 10 February

Fancy putting a watermark right there…that’s worse than the apron clutter in the foreground…and our heads…
Judges’ Comments: Just who are Bernama Multimedia?? Well Bernama is the national news agency of Malaysia. Apparently its role as a source of reliable and latest news is well known among local and international media including government agencies, corporations, universities and individuals nationwide. Is its role of messing up our FTWA image from Kuala Lumpur Airport with a water mark equally well known…? Probably not…nice water arch though…

easyJet London Luton to Marseille 13 February

Our judges not only love the fact that you can see the tenders…but both have the airport’s new logo on them…
Judges’ Comments: This FTWA has been beautifully composed. No apron clutter (check). Two airport branded tenders (check). All of the water arch visible (check). Airline brand visible (check). Nice to see the airport’s re-branded tenders in use here in Marseille…perhaps tenders one and three were still in the paint shop having theirs done??
Jonny: 7.5; Marc: 7.8; Paul: 8.9; Ralph: 8.1.
