Air Arabia adds Azerbaijan to its network

With the addition of Baku on 16 March, Air Arabia currently operates flights to 124 destinations from five hubs across the Middle East and North Africa. An official delegation including Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Executive Chairman of the Department of Government Relations – Sharjah, and Emirati Ambassador to Azerbaijan as well as the Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UAE were also on board the inaugural flight. The four times weekly service from Sharjah was sent off to Azerbaijan with this fantastic cake…

  • Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC), launched its inaugural service to Baku (GYD) on 16 March. This new flight marks Air Arabia’s first entrance into Azerbaijan and its expanding travel market. The inaugural flight departed Sharjah (SHJ) at 09:00, but the four times weekly will operate under two flight timings. On Thursdays and Sundays, the flight departs Sharjah at 07:55, and arrives in Baku at 10:50. The return flight leaves Baku at 11:30, reaching Sharjah at 14:10. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, the flight leaves Sharjah at 14:55 to land in Baku at 17:50. The A320-operated service then departs Baku at 18:50 for its return journey, arriving at Sharjah at 21:30. “Azerbaijan is a culture-rich country with a fast-emerging appeal for tourism,” said Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia.“We are excited to announce this service, and hope that our passengers enjoy our award-winning offerings. We are confident that this step will establish Baku as a destination of choice for true cultural experiences, and will positively contribute to the rapidly-growing tourism industry in Azerbaijan”. Azerbaijan Airlines provides direct competition on the 1,757-kilometre sector, with its weekly service.
