WestJet sets up St. John’s with Tampa service

St. John’s toasted the commencement of WestJet flights to Tampa on 7 April with this dazzling cake. Seen conducting the cutting of the route launch masterpiece are: Marie Manning, Director, Marketing & Business Development, St. John’s Airport; Keith Collins, President & CEO, St. John’s International Airport Authority; Tyler Hollinger, Station Manager, WestJet; Shelley Hardy, Customer Service Agent, WestJet; Erika Kelland, Marketing & Communications Advisor, St. John’s International Airport Authority. WestJet will operate a weekly (Fridays) flight between St. John’s and Tampa.

Tampa Airport welcomed WestJet’s new service from St. John’s on 7 April. Seen posing with the lavish cake commissioned by Tampa are the airport’s Kenneth Strickland, Director of Air Service and Development, and Lloyd Tillmann, Director of Operations. Tillmann was then joined on the apron by Chris Minner, VP of Marketing, Tampa Airport, to give their thumbs up for the new 3,370-kilometre connection from Canada.

  • WestJet launched flights between St. John’s (YYT) and Tampa (TPA) on 7 April. The Canadian LCC will provide weekly (Fridays) flights on the 3,370-kilometre sector on a mixture of its 737s according to OAG schedules up until 26 May. No other carrier currently links the two airports. With this launch, WestJet now serves two airports in Florida from St. John’s, with Tampa joining Orlando which is also served weekly (Saturdays). For Tampa, this becomes WestJet’s fourth connection to the Floridian airport, with it already linking Tampa with Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto Pearson.
