Condor Hamburg to Malta
Condor celebrated its first flight from Frankfurt to San Diego on 1 May. This marks the start of its S17 US offensive, with the airline launching new flights also to New Orleans and Pittsburgh. The new routes expand the network to a total of 16 destinations in North America. Being helped by the crew to cut the cake were Jens Boyd, Commercial Director Long-Haul, Condor and Winfried Hartmann, Airside and Terminal Management, Frankfurt Airport.
Alongside the inaugural crew, Lara Münch, Manager Traffic Development & Sales, Aviation Marketing, Hamburg Airport and Anne Bokelmann, Personnel Officer, Condor were on hand to mark the start of Condor’s new flight to Malta which began on 26 April.
At the other end of the Hamburg-Malta route there were celebrations too, with traditional Maltese dancers entertaining passengers arriving off the 2,004-kilometre sector from Germany. The same crew indulged in their second cake of the day – this time an appropriately maritime-themed one.
- Condor launched nine routes this week, including six from its biggest base at Frankfurt (FRA). Perhaps most significantly it started flights to San Diego (SAN) in California, as the German leisure airline’s North American portfolio expands up to 16 destinations this summer. “We are very proud to continue our US expansion. North America is still popular and in demand as a holiday and business destination and with eleven destinations in the US and five in Canada, we are well-positioned here,” says Ralf Teckentrup, Chairman of the Condor Board. The three new destinations (which include yet to be launched services to New Orleans and Pittsburgh) will supplement Condor’s existing North America S17 programme, adding to Austin, Baltimore/Washington, Las Vegas, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis-St. Paul, Seattle-Tacoma, Anchorage, Calgary, Fairbanks, Halifax, Toronto Pearson, Vancouver and Whitehorse. This week’s nine new routes are spread across four country markets; four to Greece, two each to Croatia and Malta and one to the US.
