Condor makes connections to two more US cities
Condor’s Frankfurt to New Orleans
Martin Laubenthal, Director Traffic Development Munich Airport (centre) helps send off Condor’s new twice-weekly Las Vegas service (with some help from the airline’s staff and crew and the obligatory Vegas show girl) which started on 3 May.
Unsurprisingly there were also celebrations to herald the start of Condor’s New Orleans service from Frankfurt, which included two fabulous cakes, one at either end of the 8,077-kilometre sector.
- Condor added New Orleans (MSY) to its North American offer from its biggest base at Frankfurt (FRA). The airline also commenced a Munich (MUC) to Las Vegas (LAS) sector on the same day – 3 May. Both routes are to be flown twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays) by its 767-300 fleet. Neither route will face any direct competition. Also launched from Munich by the German leisure airline on 7 May were weekly (Sundays) rotations to two new Greek destinations, Mykonos (JMK) and Zakinthos (ZTH). While both city pairs will be operated by wet-leased 737 equipment, only the route to the former will encounter incumbent airlines, as Eurowings also offers a weekly service to the Island of the Wind. This summer Condor will be operating to 10 US cities from Frankfurt and two from Munich with a total of 38 weekly departures. As a result the carriers has around 6% of the German-US market this summer based on weekly seat capacity, behind Lufthansa (47%), United Airlines (17%), airberlin (15%) and Delta Air Lines (8%).
