Eurowings gambles on Las Vegas from Cologne Bonn

Cutting the cake in Cologne Bonn at the launch of Eurowings’ first flight to Las Vegas are: Brig Lawson from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; Oliver Schmitt, SVP Sales, Eurowings; Ken Walsh, US Consulate; and Ulrich Stiller, Director Sales and Marketing, Cologne Bonn Airport. The city pairing will be flown twice-weekly.

  • Eurowings on 2 June began its latest long-haul connection, beginning a twice-weekly (Mondays and Fridays) route between Cologne Bonn (CGN) and Las Vegas (LAS). The airline will operate the 8,824-kilometre route on its fleet of A330-200s facing no direct competition. “We are very pleased that Cologne Bonn Airport is now connected to this dazzling metropolis. We are expanding our route network to the US ‒ Las Vegas is now our second destination after Miami,” said Michael Garvens, Chairman of the Management Board, Cologne Bonn. Next month the airline will further expand its US operations from Cologne Bonn with new routes to Orlando and Seattle-Tacoma. Along with launching Las Vegas this week, Eurowings has also added Karpathos (AOK) and Preveza (PVK) to its Cologne Bonn network, while the carrier has also expanded its destination offering from its recently opened Palma de Mallorca (PMI) base. Of the four European routes launched this week, the average weekly frequency is 1.5 and the average sector length is 1,640 kilometres.
