On 22 June Mahan Air commenced a twice-weekly operation from its Tehran Imam Khomeini hub to Barcelona. Along with a ribbon- and a cake-cutting there was a traditional gift exchange and VIP speeches at the launch event.
- Mahan Air launched its first route to Spain (its eighth European destination) on 22 June, with the start of twice-weekly (Thursdays and Sundays) services from Tehran Imam Khomeini (IKA) to Barcelona (BCN). “Mahan Air has been steadily growing its presence and services to Europe during the past fifteen years and it is proud to have spread its wings to beautiful Barcelona” said Mahan Air’s VP of Flight Operations, Captain Pahlevani. “The two countries of Iran and Spain are extremely attractive for tourists from each side and the new non-stop service will facilitate both tourism and business between the two friendly countries.” The flights will be performed by the airline’s two-class A340-300s and -600s, and offer passengers seamless connections to the airline’s Middle East and Far East destinations via its Imam Khomeini hub. With no incumbents on the sector, the number of weekly frequencies is also planned to increase in the near future.
