Leon Verhallen, Head of Aviation Marketing at Brussels Airport (left) led proceedings on behalf of the Belgian airport to mark the start of Qeshm Air’s new service from Tehran Imam Khomeini. He was joined by a large delegation from the airline and the Ambassador of Iran.
- Qeshm Air, the Iranian airline, has begun a weekly (Tuesdays) A319 service from Tehran Imam Khomeini (IKA) to Brussels (BRU), its first scheduled destination in Western Europe (apart from some ad-hoc operations to Larnaca). The 4,083-kilometre sector began on 27 June and the airline will face no direct competition on the city pair. Airport sources have indicated that the carrier will increase its frequency as the route develops, particularly because Belgium has a large community of Iranians.
