Cutting the cake to celebrate the launch of airBaltic’s new route to Abu Dhabi on 29 October are: Pauls Cālītis, SVP Flight Operations, airBaltic; Hanan Al Aleeli, UAE Ambassador to Latvia and Ilona Līce, Chairperson of the Board at Riga Airport. Along with cake, a ribbon cutting ceremony was also held to officially open the new route.

  • airBaltic opened a new route between Riga (RIX) and Abu Dhabi (AUH) on 29 October. The 4,368-kilometre sector, which will be operated four times weekly by the carrier’s new CS300s, will face no direct competition. OAG schedules show that Abu Dhabi will be airBaltic’s only destination in the UAE during W17/18, and marks the return of the carrier on the route after a three and a half year hiatus, with it last serving Abu Dhabi at the end of W13/14 after just one season of operation. Last time around, airBaltic also operated a four times weekly frequency.
