Lufthansa expands its Romanian and Italian offerings from Frankfurt

Lufthansa launched daily flights to Cluj-Napoca on 29 October, with the launch being celebrated the following day at the Romanian airport with this lederhosen-themed cake which was the star of the show. Flights on the 1,168-kilometre route will operate daily on the airline’s fleet of E190s when referring to OAG schedules.
- Lufthansa launched four new routes from its Frankfurt (FRA) hub this week to destinations in Romania and Italy, namely Bari (BRI), Catania (CTA), Cluj-Napoca (CLJ) and Timisoara (TSR). Services on the two Italian sectors will operate between two to three times weekly, with both Romanian routes seeing a daily service. Only Catania flights will witness head-to-head competition, with Ryanair already providing three weekly services on the airport pair. The average sector length of Lufthansa’s four new routes from Frankfurt is 1,221 kilometres. As a result of these launches, the airline now serves three destinations in Romania from Frankfurt, with Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara joining Bucharest, while the Star Alliance member links the German city to 13 Italian destinations this winter.
