Saudi Arabian Airlines returns to Iraq

The start of Saudia’s new route from Jeddah to Baghdad on 30 October was celebrated with two route launch cakes. This one was cut in the Alfursan Lounge at Jeddah Airport. Another celebratory cake cutting ceremony was performed on the aircraft. The second cake can be seen in anna.aero’s cake of the week competition. The new Jeddah-Baghdad airport pair will see double-daily services from 15 November.

  • Saudi Arabian Airlines commenced a new service between Jeddah (JED) and Baghdad (BGW) on 30 October. The carrier’s connection between the two countries resumes after a 27-year hiatus. The 1,381-kilometre route will be flown daily by the airline’s A330s before increasing to double-daily from 15 November. Saudia will face direct competition on its new service to the Iraqi capital from flynas, which began its own service between the two cities on 24 October.
