Melbourne Airport welcomed the arrival of Tianjin Airlines’ first flight from Chongqing on 1 November, with the inaugural service departing China on the evening of 31 October. The new airport pair will be served three times weekly on A330-200s and faces no direct competition.

The airport pair is the Chinese carrier’s only link to Australia and it will face no direct competition. OAG schedules show that Melbourne will see flights departing to 12 Chinese destinations non-stop in W17/18, accounting for around 346,000 one-way seats.
