Return to normal – anna.aero judges back in charge of Arch of Triumph competition
Phew!! Twice-a-year we let our industry colleagues, friends, relatives and personal trainers – the general public and not airport marketeers experts – vote for the best FTWA, which quite frankly is filled with as much trepidation as going to the toilet at night without putting the bathroom light on. You are thankful for it all to be over as cleanly as possible before getting back to normal business!! Having now had 39 scoring weeks (not including the four weeks of public votes in S17 and W17/18) of competition, the average winning score is 33.25, just 0.04 ahead of 2016’s overall result of 33.21. The result so far is also ahead of that achieved in 2015 (33.08), 2014 (29.95) and 2013 (28.5). Keep Monitoring!!

Volotea Nantes to Lanzarote 11 November

A win is a win is a win…whether you beat 15 other airports or just one…
Judges’ comments: A tricky night shot well-manged here in the Canaries…as this FTWA is bathed in light allowing us to fully appreciate the firefighters’ efforts. Lanzarote Airport recently finished seventh out of 20 airports in Part I of the W17/18 public vote, nestling in between Amsterdam in sixth and Mahé in eighth. This week it finished top of the pile…admittedly only two airports were competing…but as they say in football…a win is a win is a win…
Jonny: 7.1; Kerry: 7.6; Marc: 8.8; Nick: 8.4.
Spirit Airlines New Orleans to Tampa 9 November

Gosh…look at all that apron…
Judges’ comments: Given the standard of this FTWA, the anna.aero judges were immediately more interested in the building work going on in the background construction of New Orleans’ new North Terminal. According to the airport’s website, passengers should feel the spirit of the city in the North Terminal through the sights (aircraft?), smells (kerosene?), and sounds (engine noise?) that reverberate all the best in New Orleans. The North Terminal is scheduled to open in February 2019.
Jonny: 5.5; Kerry: 5.1; Marc: 4.8; Nick: 5.0.
