Spirit Airlines sets up 12 new airport pairs

Tampa Airport celebrated with cake the start of Spirit Airlines’ new daily service to New Orleans on 9 November. Seen posing with the route launch showstopper are the airport’s: Kenneth Strickland, Director of Air Service Development; Kari Goetz, Director of Marketing; and Danny Cooper, Sr. Marketing Manager.

The Floridian airport also baked a cake to toast the start of the ULCC’s first flight to Pittsburgh on 9 November, with Kenneth Strickland, Director of Air Service Development, Tampa Airport posing with the Pennsylvanian city-inspired cake. The carrier will offer daily flights on the city pair.

Tampa Airport also celebrated the launch of Spirit Airlines’ new service to Hartford, with this brilliant suitcase cake being commissioned to toast the new route. The airline will link the two airports daily.

Spirit Airlines launched two routes from Hartford to Southwest Florida and Tampa this week, with the first cockpit crew to Tampa posing for a photo before boarding, while Southwest Florida services were celebrated with a beach party in the terminal. Both routes will be flown by Spirit Airlines daily on its fleet of A320s.

  • Spirit Airlines launched 12 new routes during the past week, with two being international sectors to Cancún (CUN) from Baltimore/Washington (BWI) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Of the 12 routes, 11 were launched on 9 November, with these all seeing a daily rotation. The one route that launched on 10 November, a 1,674-kilometre link from New Orleans (MSY) to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), will operate just four times weekly on A319s.
