Volaris added its fourth and fifth new domestic routes for 2017 when it commenced services from Monterrey to Huatulco and Mexicali on 13 November. The carrier will add another domestic connection from Monterrey to Cozumel before the end of the year. The launch of flights from Monterrey was celebrated with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony at Mexicali Airport.
- Volaris began direct connections from Monterrey (MTY) to Huatulco (HUX) and Mexicali (MXL) on 13 November. The 1,180-kilometre Monterrey-Huatulco route will be operated twice-weekly (Mondays and Fridays) by A319s and faces no direct competition. The 1,651-kilometre Monterrey-Mexicali link will also be operated by A319s. This route will be served five times per week and faces direct competition from VivaAerobus which has three frequencies per week on the airport pair. These are the 16th and 17th routes to be launched by Volaris in 2017. According to anna.aero’s New Route Database, the Mexican LCC has already launched three other domestic services this year and is due to commence another from Monterrey to Cozumel (CZM) on 15 November.
