Seen pulling the ribbon at Sao Paulo Guarulhos to open Avianca Brazil’s new service to New York JFK are: Frederico Pedreira, President of Avianca Brazil; José Efromovich, CEO of Avianca Brazil; and Wilson de Souza, Operational Control Manager, Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport. The 7,657-kilometre route will be flown daily.
- Avianca Brazil launched flights between Sao Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) and New York JFK (JFK) on 15 December, a 7,657-kilometre route that the Star Alliance member will serve daily on its fleet of A330-200s when referring to OAG schedules. The carrier becomes the fourth operator on the airport pair, joining LATAM Airlines which offers nine weekly flights between the North and South American airports, while US carriers American Airlines and Delta Air Lines both provide a daily rotation respectively. This becomes Avianca Brazil’s second route to the US, with it already serving Miami with a daily service from Guarulhos.
