- Thai AirAsia commenced operations on a new domestic link between Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK) and Chumphon (CJM) on 25 March. It will serve the 380-kilometre sector daily with A320s and faces incumbent competition in the form of Nok Air, which already provides double-daily flights on this airport pair. “AirAsia’s new route to Chumphon reiterates the advantage as the airline with the most extensive network in the Thai south with nine destinations served by 19 routes, totalling over 69 flights a day,” said Witchunee Kuntapeng, Head of Guest Service for Thai AirAsia. “The route is great for tourists as well as locals who need to travel back and forth to the province while also supporting the government’s policy of promoting secondary cities toward economic growth. AirAsia anticipates the route will be very well received.”
