Spirit Airlines enters Ecuador

Spirit Airlines officially opened its new daily service between Fort Lauderale and Guayaquil with a ribbon cutting ceremony on 22 March. This is the airline’s only route between the US and Ecuador.

  • Spirit Airlines commenced flights between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Guayaquil (GYE) on 22 March, the carrier’s first route to Ecuador. The daily service will be operated on the ULCC’s fleet of A319s, and faces direct competition from tame which offers four weekly flights according to OAG schedules. Along with this new service, Spirit launched a further four routes this week. The average sector length of the five routes inaugurated is 1,981 kilometres.
