London City Airport welcomed its second route with TAP Portugal on 25 March, a six times weekly service from Porto, adding to the carrier’s existing Lisbon route. To celebrate the occasion, the UK capital airport had a classic route launch cake, with Portuguese custard tarts also provided for the inaugural passengers to enjoy.
- TAP Portugal opened up four routes from Porto (OPO) for the start of S18, namely Barcelona (BCN), London City (LCY), Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Ponta Delgada (PDL). Flights to Barcelona and Malpensa will be flown twice-daily, while Ponta Delgada sees a daily rotation. London City services will operate six times weekly, with this also being the only route that will not face any direct competition. It should be noted that Ryanair competes on all services excluding London City, although the Irish carrier does offer indirect competition to London Stansted.
