Jetstar Airways commenced services between Wellington and Queenstown on 27 March, a route that the carrier last flew in August 2013. The airline this time around will offer three weekly flights on the 641-kilometre domestic connection. To celebrate the route, the New Zealand capital airport gave away goodies to the first passengers.

This time around, the carrier will operate the 641-kilometre domestic link three times weekly using its A320s. It will face direct competition from Air New Zealand, with the national carrier operating 14 weekly flights according to OAG schedules. This becomes Jetstar’s fifth domestic link from Wellington and its fourth to the nation’s South Island after Christchurch, Nelson and Dunedin.
