Vote for the best Cake of the Week – 34 yummy treats from S18 Part II

Having amassed a massive 1,300 votes in the S18 Part I competition over the last seven days, this airport terminal-inspired treat from Bratislava Airport tore through the competition to secure anna.aero’s coveted Cake of the Week certificate. It was not a hard fought battle, as the Slovakian airport beat Australia’s Newcastle Airport by 38% (just less than 1,000 votes) to take the #1 spot.
The poll was closed at 17:00 yesterday. Our data elves have been up all night counting and then re-counting all the votes received over the last seven days – which is no mean task as they can only count up to three. In the end it was Bratislava Airport from Slovakia which romped away with the win, commanding 52% of the votes, for the fabulous baked beauty which graced the launch of airline Georgian Airways’ service from Tbilisi last week. Taking the runner-up slot was Newcastle Airport, which was around 1,000 votes behind, having secured second position in Part I of the S18 anna.aero reader vote for Cake of the Week. A well-managed promotion by Bratislava, using Facebook and Twitter, also secured the Slovakian airport the Arch of Triumph public vote too.

There is no let up for our cake-loving data elves, as there are a further 34 route launch culinary creations for them to salivate over this week. Entries have come in from all over the world, including Orlando, St. Petersburg and Cardiff.
The first launches of the 2018 (northern) summer season S18 brought with them 28 fantastic carefully-crafted cake creations from airport marketing departments around the world. From this week’s submissions sent in we have shortlisted 34 cakes for Part II of our bi-annual anna.aero’s readers’ vote. As well as cakes, we have been submerged with new route FTWAs – see our Arch of Triumph vote here.
Just like last week – the rules have as many holes in them as a Swiss cheese: you have to get as many votes as you can to win! How you get these votes is of little concern to us, as long as it is legal (or you don’t get caught). So if you want your new route cake to win, get everyone in your airport/airline to vote, get it shared on Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and get re-tweeting! N.B. The airport names which are underlined are the creators of the cakes in question. The vote closes at 17:00 (GMT) on Tuesday 10 April and the results will be published in next week’s newsletter on Wednesday 11 April. Keep voting!!
Love the cake in the occasion of the opening of Ryan air base in Bourgas 🙂
