Germania gets going on 30 new routes

Germania began services from Düsseldorf to Ponta Delgada on 2 May, with weekly flights (Wednesdays). airberlin used to operate to the destination twice-weekly in S16, but now Germania reconnects the German gateway to this part of the Azores. Ulrich Topp  (second left), Director Aviation Marketing of Düsseldorf Airport, poses with the crew in front of the inaugural flight aircraft.

Later this year the LCC will launch flights from Münster/Osnabrück to Thessaloniki, Agadir and Funchal.

  • Germania commenced 30 new connections from nine of its German bases in the last week, operating to destinations in Egypt, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. The longest sector is the 3,489-kilometre route from Berlin Tegel (TXL) to Marsa Alam (RMF), whereas the shortest city pair is the 1,300-kilometre link from Nuremberg (NUE) to Corfu (CFU). The average sector length of all 30 services is 2,057 kilometres, with an average weekly frequency of 1.9.
