- Cyprus Airways has added two routes to its Larnaca (LCA) schedule this week, with the Cypriot airline now offering flights to Zurich (ZRH) and Verona (VRN), its first destinations in Switzerland and Italy. Flights on the former 2,504-kilometre link were the first to launch on 26 May, with the carrier planning to serve the Swiss city twice-weekly (Tuesdays and Saturdays). The airline becomes the fourth to offer schedule flights between Larnaca and Zurich, with it joining Edelweiss Air (nine times weekly), Germania Flug (three) and Cobalt (two) on the sector. Flights to Verona commenced the following day, and like Zurich, the 2,245-kilometre jaunt up to the Northern Italian airport will also be flown twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays). Flights to Verona will face no direct competition, with services to both it and Zurich planned to be flown on the carrier’s fleet of A319s, of which it presently has two. Cyprus Airways’ next route launch is planned to take place on 1 June, the day in which it will begin operations to Prague from Larnaca.
