Malaga celebrated the start of SAS flights to Skelleftea on 16 June. Cutting the cake to mark the occasion were: Begoña Felices, Head of Commercial Division, Málaga Airport; Mikael Persson, Station Manager Spain, SAS; and Vanesa Cabañas, Head of Airline Customer Relations Department, Aena.
- SAS introduced a new Swedish link from Malaga (AGP) on 16 June, beginning flights to Skelleftea (SFT) in Northern Sweden. Flights on the 3,536-kilometre route will operate weekly (Saturdays) and will be operated using A320s. The service leaves the Spanish airport at 15:50, touching down four hours and 50 minutes later in Sweden at 20:40 local time. The return rotation back to Malaga leaves Skelleftea at 21:25, arriving in the Mediterranean city at 02:25 the following morning. The Star Alliance member will face no direct competition on this airport pair. As a result of this launch, The carrier now offers 10 routes from its Spanish base, with an 11th – Tampere – scheduled to begin in time for the start of the W18/19 season.
