A banner welcomes the crew of Aeroflot flight SU2156 to the city of Bourgas. The inaugural service from its Moscow Sheremetyevo hub was also baptised by the now traditional water salute from the airport’s rescue and firefighting service. Among those at the launch was Adriana Troanska, Head of PR & Corporate Communication, Fraport Bulgaria, pictured holding up the right-hand side of the route launch banner, plus Georgi Chipilski, Director of Bourgas Airport, seen behind the between the cockpit crew on the right-hand side of the stairs.
- Aeroflot commenced daily operations between Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO) and Bourgas (BOJ) on 3 July. The 1,648-kilometre flight is operated by its A320 family, departing Sheremetyevo at 17:55, arriving in Bourgas at 19:20. The return leg leaves the Black Sea destination at 20:30, landing in the Russian capital at 23:50. The Bulgarian airport stated in a press release that the route and will operate year-round, although frequencies will reduce to thrice-weekly from the end of October. According to OAG data, both Bulgaria Air and Nordwind Airlines currently serve the route, with 26 and two frequencies per week respectively.
