Azerbaijan Airlines launched its only route to Montenegro on 5 July, as the carrier commenced a weekly service to the country’s capital city Tivat. The 2,602-kilometre sector faces no direct competition.
- Azerbaijan Airlines commenced a weekly service to Tivat (TIV) on 5 July, operating on Thursdays from Azerbaijan’s capital Baku (GYD). The 2,602-kilometre seasonal route will be served using the carrier’s A320 fleet until 13 September, with no existing operators on the route. In 2017, Tivat handled a total of 1,129,720 passengers, an increase of 15% on the previous year. According to OAG data, Belgrade is the largest single route from Tivat, handling an estimated 19,416 two-way passengers in Q1 2018. Including Moscow’s Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports, these two city pairs accounted for over 80% of all traffic at the airport in Q1.
