Passengers on the inaugural Turkish Airlines service to Samsun from Kuwait City were greeted with cultural dancing entertainment on 19 July. When referencing OAG schedules, the carrier will offer a weekly (Thursdays) service on the sector until 23 August. No other carrier presently operates between the two airports.
- Turkish Airlines launched flights on a route between Samsun (SZF) on the northern coast of Turkey and Kuwait City (KWI) on 19 July. When referring to OAG schedules, the aircraft originates from Trabzon, conducting a Trabzon – Kuwait City – Samsun – Kuwait City – Trabzon routing. The 1,687-kilometre route will see flights leave Kuwait City weekly on Thursdays at 11:05, landing into Samsun at 14:15. After a turnaround of one hour and five minutes, the return service leaves Samsun at 15:20, touching back down in Kuwait City at 17:50. The Star Alliance member is scheduled to operate the seasonal service until 23 August. No other airline presently operates between the two airports. In 2017 Samsun Airport processed 1,175,525 passengers according to figures from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority of Turkey (DHMI) with 40,769 of those travelling on international services.
