31 October was a momentous day for Istanbul New Airport, with Turkish Airlines launching its first flights from the new-build hub. Cutting the ribbon to mark the start of services were: Mehmet Akif Konar, CCO, Turkish Airlines (seventh right); Ahmet Olmuştur, Chief Marketing Officer, Turkish Airlines; Bahri Kesici, Acting Director General of Civil Aviation in Turkey and Kadri Samsunlu, CEO and GM of İGA (Istanbul New) Airport.

  • Turkish Airlines launched five new routes in the past week, including its first four connections from Istanbul New Airport (ISL). The Turkish flag carrier also began operations on a new airport pair from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) to Doha (DOH) on 30 October. All of the four domestic links from Istanbul New Airport will operate daily, while the Doha service from Sabiha Gökçen will be flown three times weekly. Sector lengths across the five routes range from 357 kilometres to 2,691 kilometres.
