Turkish Airlines launched flights between Ankara and Baku on 22 April. A celebratory party was held at the gate before the first departure. Honoured with cutting the cake, and pictured holding the knife before conducting the event, was Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce.
- Turkish Airlines has launched a new capital connection between Ankara (ESB) and Baku (GYD), joining Azerbaijan Airlines on the route, with the latter currently offering a daily service. The Turkish flag carrier, which launched the route on 22 April, will initially serve the 1,446-kilometre link between the capitals of Turkey and Azerbaijan four times weekly according to OAG schedules and Flightradar24.com, before reducing to a three times weekly operation in the coming weeks. The Star Alliance member will operate its newest city pair using its fleet of 737-800s.
