VietJet Air launched operations between Phu Quoc and Hong Kong on 19 April, with a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place to officially open the new connection. Flights will operate four times weekly using A320s.
- VietJet Air has begun flights between Phu Quoc (PQC) and Hong Kong (HKG). Launched 19 April, the carrier will offer a four times weekly service on the 1,716-kilometre connection using its fleet of A320s. No other airline currently serves the airport pair. This is the carrier’s second route to Hong Kong after Ho Chi Minh City, a city pair it currently operates daily using its fleet of A321s. Referencing OAG Traffic Analyser data, an estimated 11,400 people flew indirectly between Hong Kong and Phu Quoc in 2018, up from 9,700 in 2017. This represents an 18% increase in traffic over the course of past year. The LCCs operation between the two airports will generate 39,200 seats this summer.
