Volotea launched flights between Palermo and Cagliari on 18 April. The carrier will offer a twice-weekly service between the two European cities using its fleet of 717s. In addition to this route, a sector between Bilbao and Naples launched on 16 April, while a Nice to Toulouse service was also introduced by the carrier this week.
- Volotea launched three new services this week, from bases across Italy, Spain and France. They included the commencement of operations between Bilbao (BIO) and Naples (NAP) on 16 April, a route between Cagliari (CAG) and Palermo (PMO) launched 18 April, plus a link from Nice (NCE) to Toulouse (TLS), initiated on 19 April. The carrier will serve both the short 370-kilometre sector between Cagliari and Palermo, plus the 1,443-kilometre route between Spain and Italy twice-weekly utilising it’s 717 fleet. The 471-kilometre French domestic connection will be operated by A319s on a twice-weekly (Tuesday and Friday) basis, facing direct competition from easyJet which offers 12 weekly flights. Neither of the other two routes launched this week will face any incumbents.
