Sichuan Airlines has become the first ‘new’ airline to serve the new Istanbul Airport, with it becoming the first carrier to inaugurate flights to the airport having not served the former Istanbul Atatürk. The Chinese carrier will serve the 6,663-kilometre route between Chengdu and the Turkish mega-hub three times weekly.

  • Sichuan Airlines has become the first ‘new’ airline to serve the recently opened Istanbul (IST) Airport, with it becoming the first carrier to inaugurate flights to the airport having not served the former Istanbul Atatürk. On 30 April, the Chinese airline launched a three times weekly service from Chengdu (CTU). It plans to operate the 6,663-kilometre route using its fleet of A330-200s and -300s, with no other carrier presently serving the airport pair.
