  • Blue Islands on 3 June launched thrice weekly seasonal services from the Channel Islands of Guernsey (GCI) and Jersey (JER) to the Cornish city of Newquay (NQY). The routes will be operated until 31 August on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays using the carrier’s 46-seat ATR 42 aircraft, and are expected to add another 3,600 seats to Newquay’s 2019 schedule. Speaking at the launch, Al Titterington, MD Cornwall Airport Newquay said: “We continue to develop a broader portfolio of destinations and airlines for our passengers as we see an ever-growing demand for visitors coming to Cornwall, but also those who seek ease of travel from their local airport…now just a one-hour flight away [from the Channel Islands] compared to an eight-hour drive and ferry crossing.”
