Kenya Airways Nairobi to Geneva 13 June
Judges’ Comments: A photographer capturing a photographer has been something of a trend on social media recently – and this excellent example from Geneva Airport makes it into this week’s winning Fie Truck Water Arch (FTWA). Aside from the artistic merit of this shot – which captures the enthusiasm of officials at Kenya Airways’ inaugural flight from Nairobi – high marks come from the accuracy of the arch, while the beautiful mountain scenery and a cheeky rainbow are a bonus.

Laudamotion new Palma de Mallorca base 14 June
Judges’ Comments: Lauda celebrated the launch of its Palma de Mallorca base, with the photographer opting for a lower, front-three quarter perspective of this simple but elegant arch. The Austrian low cost carrier – founded in March 2018 by the late Niki Lauda – will serve 12 destinations across Austria and Germany in summer 2019 from the Balearic island airport.

Gulf Air Bahrain to Malaga 15 June
Judges’ comments: A photograph in profile sets this entry apart, celebrating Gulf Air’s new service between Bahrain and Malaga. The wind appears to have been a struggle on that particular day, but the fire crews made up for it with a stunning additional rainbow arch under which the Bahrain Grand Prix-themed 787-9 passed.
