Copa Airlines calls into Paramaribo

Cutting the ribbon on Copa Airlines’ inaugural service to Paramaribo are (left to right): Timothy Mendonca, Acting CEO Airport Management Ltd; Bernardo Ordas, Copa Airlines Regional Sales Manager Central America and the Caribbean; Ranu Mathura, President of the Board of Directors of Airport Management Ltd; Vijay Chotkan, Minister of Public Works, Transport & Communication and Stephen Tsang, Minister of Trade, Industry & Tourism.

  • Copa Airlines on 06 July commenced year-round operations between its hub in Panama City (PTY) and Paramaribo J.A. Pengel International (PBM). The 2,697-kilometre route will be operated twice weekly by the carrier’s 124-seat Boeing 737-700 fleet, with no other operator currently serving the city pair. According to OAG Schedules Analyser, the carrier serves a total of 79 international destinations in S19, three more than in S18 – this despite the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft forcing Copa and other operators worldwide to use existing 737NG aircraft to make up the shortfall.
