- Air New Zealand on 26 August commenced daily operations between Auckland (AKL) and Invercargill (IVC). The 1,173-kilometre route is operated by the Star Alliance carrier’s A320 fleet five times a week. Christopher Luxon, CEO Air New Zealand, confirmed at the launch the carrier’s intention to operate the service year-round, due to the substantial demand and forward bookings from the community. According to OAG Schedules Analyser, Air New Zealand is the sole airline operating between Auckland and Invercargill, which is the most southerly destination in the carrier’s route network.
