IndiGo adds Sharjah from Amritsar

As well as launching the new Amritsar to Sharjah route this week, IndiGo also celebrated the delivery of the 1,000th A320neo family aircraft – a 222-seat A321neo – with Airbus. Anand Stanley, Head of Airbus India and South Asia; Michael Menking, Head of A320 Family Programme, Airbus; Rono Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo; Chadi Saade, Head of Sales India, Airbus and Michael Culhane, Senior Vice President New Aircraft, CDB Aviation Lease Finance were present at the ceremony.
- IndiGo on 01 October launched daily flights between Amritsar (ATQ) and Sharjah (SHJ), using a 180-seat A320. The Indian ULCC is the sole operator on the 2,007-kilometre route, however low-cost rivals Air India Express and Spicejet serve nearby Dubai International. According to OAG Mapper, IndiGo will operate a total of seven routes from Amritsar in W19, with Sharjah its first international connection from the hub.
