Air Canada launches Vancouver to Auckland flights
- Air Canada commenced non-stop service this week between Vancouver and Auckland. Launched on 12 December with a three-class 787-9, it is served four-weekly with 787-8s. Air New Zealand serves the route daily. Before the launch, we caught up with Air Canada’s Vic Naughton, General Manager Australia and New Zealand to find out more about their strategy in the region. He revealed that Air Canada “aims to strengthen its offering on existing routes, by moving Vancouver – Melbourne up from four a week to daily and establishing Auckland as a year-round service.” In the past year, 38,000 flew Vancouver – Auckland and 99,000 Canada – Auckland.
