SAS returns to Los Angeles from Copenhagen

SAS Scandinavian Airlines Copenhagen to Los Angeles

SAS launches six times weekly flights to Los Angeles from Copenhagen on 14 January. Expect to see significant long haul growth soon from SAS out of Copenhagen Airport, as rival Norwegian removes transatlantic flights in restructuring.

  • SAS Scandinavian Airlines on 14 January welcomed the launch of six-weekly Los Angeles flights from Copenhagen. The route is operated by its 245-seat A340-300s and new 300-seat A350-900s as they are phased in.

By the start of S20, Norwegian will have ceased transatlantic operations from Copenhagen and Stockholm, consolidating in Oslo. This presents SAS with a significant opportunity, as it removes the downward pressure on fares Norwegian presented on city-pairs like Stockholm – New York, and should, therefore, help to boost yields. On a purely local basis, 115,000 travelled between Copenhagen and Los Angeles last year. But SAS will also have strong connectivity over Copenhagen.
