Loganair continues expansion with Belfast City launch

Belfast to Aberdeen

Ellie McGimpsey, Aviation Development Manager at Belfast City, welcomes the crew of Loganair’s inaugural Aberdeen to Belfast City flight on 16 March.

  • Loganair continued its expansion at George Best Belfast City Airport with the launch of daily Aberdeen flights. Inverness flights will also launch from Belfast City, commencing 23 March, followed by four-weekly Dundee services on 02 April. Ellie McGimpsey, Aviation Development Manager at Belfast City, said:

“Demand for connectivity between Northern Ireland and Scotland remains high which is why we are extremely pleased to reintroduce a daily service to Aberdeen…thanks to the swift response by Loganair, business and leisure passengers alike will continue to enjoy the convenience and ease that a direct flight to Aberdeen provides”.

Belfast City has historically performed well, being flybe’s 3rd highest revenue airport in 2019 according to OAG Traffic Analyser, despite its relatively small size compared to others. Location is king, with it boasting strong yields from being just five minutes from the economic heart of Belfast. In total, 38,531 passengers travelled on the Belfast City to Aberdeen route in 2019, according to CAA data.
