Routes Reconnected: JetBlue adds 55 new routes this year with big leisure focus
JetBlue is to introduce 55 new routes this year, with a big focus on leisure routes, smaller cities, and transcontinental services.
“Despite the ravaging coronavirus, we are pushing forward with our network development to generate cash from the more buoyant leisure market,” said Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s CEO, at this afternoon’s Routes Reconnected.
Florida, Newark, and Los Angeles will collectively see 29 of these routes.
Notably, Los Angeles will have brand-new routes to Charleston (SC), Richmond (VA), West Palm Beach (FL).
“Los Angeles was the top unserved route from Charleston, Richmond, and West Palm Beach last year, with a combined 192,000 passengers,” Hayes said. “They are markets waiting to be served.”
