Aena’s Extraordinary Incentive Summer 21 Scheme
Aena has approved a new incentive scheme to foster traffic recovery in Spain. From the 1st of April 2021 and until the 31st of October 2021, the new “Extraordinary Incentive to stimulate traffic recovery” will be in force.
Airlines will receive a refund on their average landing charge equivalent to their percentage of recovery of operations at Aena S.M.E., S.A’s network and Murcia Region’s airports in relation to the monthly operations achieved by the airline during the equivalent month of the Summer 2019 season. The number of operations entitled to the refund will be those exceeding the following recovery thresholds: 30% for the months of April, May and June and 45% for the months of July, August, September and October.
Detailed information on these incentives can be found at
Airlines can also contact Aena’s marketing team to learn more about the incentive scheme, potential routes or any other information to boost them.
It is also noteworthy that Aena has adapted its airports to the pandemic and has implemented more than 90 measures to ensure the best safety levels and to inspire trust and confidence to both passengers and airport staff. These measures, all of which comply with EASA and ECDC’s recommendations and validated by the Spanish Health Ministry, have been developed through different airport processes. In fact, three airports of the network (AS Madrid-Barajas, JT Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca) have already been awarded with the Airport Health Accreditation by ACI, and six airports have received the “Best hygiene measures by Region (Europe)” at the ASQ Awards in 2020: Alicante-Elche, FGL Granada-Jaén, Menorca, Murcia Region, Pamplona and SB Santander.
