Budapest Airport Runway Run’s charities speak out

Personal thanks and praise from our charities

Anthony Nolan’s Chief Engagement and Marketing Officer, Terence Lovell praises the runners, sponsors, and supporters of the Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run with a personal message of encouragement and thanks.

All entry fees for the Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run are entirely donated to international blood cancer charity, Anthony Nolan, and the Hungarian charity assisting the inclusiveness of handicapped people in sports – SUHANJ! Foundation. Both charities very close to the organisers’ hearts but, even more so, those who personally benefit from this event and the vital funds it continues to raise.

“A massive thank you for everyone’s support! Anthony Nolan is immensely proud and honoured to be the beneficiary of this year’s Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run charity event. Over the years, thanks to the supporters, the partnership has raised more than €100,000 enabling us to continue our life saving work at Anthony Nolan; matching incredible individuals to people with blood cancer and blood disorders who desperately need lifesaving stem cell transplants. The support also helps fund our Anthony Nolan Clinical Nurse Specialists and Clinical Psychologists who provide support to blood cancer patients and their families. The Run is also enabling us to carry out world-leading research to improve the lives of all people with blood cancer. The team and I are incredibly grateful for the support of Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run organisers, sponsors, and participants. On behalf of every patient who is given a second chance of life because of this support, thank you. Without you, there is no cure,” enthuses Terence Lovell, Chief Engagement and Marketing Officer, Anthony Nolan.

Péter Gusztos, Founder & CEO, SUHANJ! Foundation explains exactly how important the donations from the aviation charity run are to those who benefit from the generous support the event continues to attract.

“Thank you for all the support, we are very proud and grateful! We at SUHANJ! Foundation share the joy of sports with people with disabilities. Being a movement that consists of a community of committed volunteers and amateurs related to different sport fields, we are a fundraising foundation, providing regular, weekly training opportunities in several sport fields for visually impaired and disabled people. We also organise awareness-raising events and attitude-shaping programs to schools, companies and others interested. In 2016, we opened Hungary’s only fully accessible gym, SUHANJ! Fitness, which – we are proud to say – has seen more than 100,000 entries since its opening,” explains Péter Gusztos, Founder & CEO, SUHANJ! Foundation.

“The partnership between Budapest Airport and SUHANJ! dates back to 2013. Through the organisation of the Runway Run races, the airport provides a unique opportunity for athletes with disabilities and their accompanying persons to participate in a memorable event each year. In the meantime, this cooperation and the significant donations raised at the Runway Runs made it possible for the Foundation to establish and maintain a permanent centre for its integrative sport activities, to build an inspiring community and to be able to stay afloat and keep up all the good work during the challenging times in the past year. It wouldn’t have been possible without them and all our committed supporters,” adds Gusztos.
