United Airlines launches nonstop route between Wilmington International and Newark Liberty
Wilmington International Airport for United Airlines launch to Newark Liberty International Airport
United Airlines has launched a new nonstop service between Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). The route is operated twice-daily with the CRJ-550.
To celebrate, ILM’s ARFF team, in collaboration with New Hanover County Fire and Rescue, provided a water salute. Passengers, flying in and flying out, enjoyed a special sweet treat for the occasion.
“Our community has wanted nonstop service to Newark for many years and we are thankful that United has chosen to provide this service,” said Jeff Bourk, Airport Director, Wilmington International Airport. “The New York area is a top market for ILM, both inbound and outbound, and we look forward to seeing strong community support for this new route.”
Ankit Gupta, Senior Vice President of Domestic Planning and United Express, commented: “The economic vitality and growth of Wilmington, North Carolina is something that United is proud to support. These new routes will connect fliers from Wilmington to one of United’s busiest international hubs, making it easier not only to travel to more than 50 cities in the U.S., but also opening up access to exciting destinations in Europe, Africa and beyond.”
