easyJet celebrates three million passengers at Birmingham Airport and launches new Faro route
easyJet has celebrated flying over three million passengers to and from Birmingham Airport. It has also announced the launch of a new route from Birmingham to Faro, with the inaugural service on 1 May 2022. The new route will be easyJet’s eighth from Birmingham, following the addition of Malaga, Palma and Amsterdam to the network.
The Faro route will be operated twice-weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout the summer season between 1 May and 26 October 2022.
This summer, easyJet is set to operate nearly four times more seats from Birmingham than it did in summer 2019, serving more destinations across the UK and Europe: Belfast International Airport, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Geneva, Palma, Malaga, and now Faro.
“We are delighted to celebrate carrying over three million passengers and announce yet another new route from Birmingham,” said Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager. “Over the past months we’ve continued growing our operations at Birmingham, serving more customers, and offering more connections to a greater range of destinations to ever before – which is especially exciting as we know that so many people have missed being able to holiday over the last two years.”
Tom Screen, Aviation Director, Birmingham Airport, commented: “This is an important milestone to celebrate with easyJet. Our partnership with the airline has grown over the years and it is great that today we see the airline carry its three millionth passenger and additionally welcome the announcement of a new route to Faro. This popular Portuguese destination is a firm favourite for customers flying from Birmingham Airport and we welcome the extra capacity on this route. We look forward to continuing to work with easyJet to offer our customers additional routes in the near future.”
