Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run – registration is live!

Entry just €45, but the earlybird price won’t last

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the run, this year the event will be held at sunset allowing you to experience running in the glow of the Hungarian twilight, taking place at 17:30 on Saturday 3 September 2022 on Budapest Airport’s Runway 13R-31L.

There’s not long left to get the lowest possible price for the Budapest Airport-anna.aero Runway Run – it’s just €45 now but goes up to €60 on 1 July. All entry fees are entirely donated to international child cancer causes and a Hungarian charity assisting with the inclusion of handicapped people in sports, so we’ll be more than happy to take the extra money from you should you miss the deadline.

The 5km and 10km race on the runway does three things brilliantly:

  • It’s an awesome networking event for 1,000 air transport industry executives
  • It’s a great fitness goal – if you run, you’ll love it; if you don’t run, you really need to start!
  • It raises a lot of money for child cancer and other great causes without tiresome sponsorship goals – it ALL goes to charity.

The air transport community’s annual charity race is also a great party in “bellissimo Budapest” – one of the best weekend breaks you can possibly have on one of the last hot summer days of 2022.

We will also have several team categories, so that as many runners as possible will have the chance to win a team prize. The following categories will be available in 2022:

* Fastest airline team                                               * Fastest airport team

* Fastest business services team                            * Fastest travel enterprise team

* Fastest airport concessionaire team                   * Fastest airport authority

Running down the centreline of a runway at sunset is an absolute privilege – join us for what has proven year after year to be the great, must-be-at air transport industry’s annual event.

This is why we do it…

You may not be thinking of joining us at the Budapest Runway Run but please do think about whether you can help support our chosen charity and the amazing work they do. Here’s one such story and how you could potentially save a life…

Evie’s Appeal #Match4Evie campaign

Like most toddlers, 15-month-old Evie Sanassy is most concerned with playing or enjoying sweet treats, like her favourite raspberries. However, Evie is now relying on the kindness of strangers as she has been diagnosed with the rare blood disorder Macrophage Activation Syndrome (MAS) and requires a stem cell transplant to treat her condition. Evie’s family is working with Anthony Nolan, on the #Match4Evie campaign, to help find Evie a perfect match and specifically to raise awareness of the need for more South Asian stem cell donors.

The search for Evie’s perfect match is made more difficult due to her unique genetic makeup. Patients who are White have a 72% chance of finding the best match from an unrelated donor but this drops to a 37% chance for patients from minority ethnic backgrounds, like Evie.  Evie has a mixed heritage with Mauritian, Sri Lankan and South Indian roots and Anthony Nolan is particularly keen on people from South Asian backgrounds to consider joining its register to help reduce these differences.

People aged 16-30 can join the Anthony Nolan register online at www.anthonynolan.org/match4evie if they are in good general health. In particular Anthony Nolan needs more young men to sign up as they are underrepresented on the register. Young men currently account for only 18% of the charity’s register, but they make up an astonishing 55% of all people asked to donate.

To register, all you have to do is swab your cheek, there’s really nothing to it, but it could be everything to Evie.
